Yet another delay!!!
So, remember how last week, on Wednesday night how I stepped on a pin and it made me late for bed, the night before MCAS, well last night, I was in Rachel's room. Josh, Rachel and I were listening to my mo read the fourth Penderwicks. So, to make the room more fancier, we lit two candles. When my mom was done reading I picked up one of the candles, because it was mine and I was bringing to my room. Well, anyway, I was halfway across the room when suddenly, my hair caught on fire! It was beautiful, yet so scary, dancing with a yellowish glow. There was thinking involved, me and my mom both clamped our hands over the flame, extinguishing it, both of us wanting to push it out of time and space, eternily.

OWWWWWW!
So, on Wednesday night I was planning to get to bed at 8:30, right? Well actually that didn't happen because I was intrigued by my book. But, anyway it was like 9:00 when I was finally ready for bed. I was crossing my room when I felt this prick on the bottom of my foot. I thought it was like a little sharp piece of rug sticking out, but then the pain got worse. The bottom of my foot really hurt. I raised my foot up. Right there smack in the middle of my foot was a safety pin. It was in really deep. I wanted to pluck it out, but I new I should let my mom do it. I hopped up the stairs to the third floor. I didn't cry, but I really wanted to. I think I have gotten better about crying every time I had got hurt. Anyway, if this were a few months earlier I probably would have been screaming, it hurt that much. I found her on the computer looking up something, soapstone for our new kitchen, probably. Anyways, she didn't hear me come in.
"Mom," I said.
"Yeah, are you ready to go to bed?" she asked still busily staring at the bright screen of the computer.
"No, Mom," I said.
"What?" she asked.
"Look," I said, showing her the bottom of my foot.
"Oh, honey!" she exclaimed.
"Mom, don't pull it out!"
Against my will, she pulled it out.
Blood came spilling out! For a cut that was only the size of a pinhead, more blood than I ever remembered seeing, came spilling out of it.
There was enough blood literly, to fill a cup! Don't worry though, I didn't drink it!
My mom came back with a parer towel and started mopping up the blood that was now spilling over the edges of my foot and into my cupped hands. It just kept coming out! There was blood all over my hands and my ankles! It was gross!!!!!!!!!!

Today when I got home there were workers everywhere! They are starting are kitchen! I'm so excited. On the way home we stopped for ice cream. It was good. I got peppermint stick. Anyway are kitchen is underway!
Today we had a substitute and it was totally boring. The best part of the day was art, where we did cardboard weaving. It was fun. The should-have-been second best was recess the blues creamed the whites. I got two goals. I was glad I scored, if only it was a game that could have gone down in history in a positive way it would have been more of a victory.

We arrived!!
We arived safely after a boring plane ride. Thank God. We had to sit out side our town house for like, more than an hour because, at first, we couldn't figure out how to open the lock box the key was in, but finally figured it out. Then the key was not in the box. We realized the cleaner must have it because we could here the faint rumble of a vacuum cleaner coming from inside the house.
Or...
did someone steal it?
Well, no. Eventually the cleaner came out and gave us the key and left. We all hurried inside. It was decided me and Josh would share a room that had two twin beds in it. There was another room with two twin beds in it and Rachel got it all to herself. Unfair.
We explored the house and there wasn't much in it, besides form the usual stuff, except a FUSE BALL TABLE!! Yeah I know, pretty boring, but it was the best thing in the house.
Once we were settled in we went down to the mall.
Okay, now, the mall isn't a mall.
It is just called the mall. It is 2 miles long and it is outside. On the mall are all the famous monuments and museums and stuff. Here is a picture I got off the internet:

The readathon was really fun. We heard so much of the Windsinger!
Luckily Mr. Allen didn't step on any big bananas though!

At one point the piano fell on me and bonked me on the head, but I was fine, just suprised.

Writing, writing, writing!!
Oh yeah, I'm sorry this is kind of long, but,
Chapter 1: Almost There
His little round face shone in the moonlight like a star. He had
bags under his eyes and looked old and wise, despite his high voice.
"Maria, I'm tired and thirsty," the little boy whined. His blue eyes stood
out looking at her longingly. She could see he could not go on.
“Alright Jeff," she ruffled his untidy, curly, brown hair, "we’ll stop
for a little while. We have already been traveling for four days and three
nights, we really need to get to our new home,” she said soothingly, but
you could tell she was worried and didn’t want to get to her new home
any time soon. She looked around across the plain desert; they were
alone in this vast sand box. She pushed some sand into a lump, a little
bigger then an anthill. Jeff automatically laid his head down on the sand.
They had been doing this for the past three nights. The moon shone
brightly in the cloudless sky. The deep navy blue sky was scattered with
stars was quite a different change from the polluted blanket that
covered their city, their old city. Maria longed to be back in her city, with
her parents, with her friends. She could still imagine the bright faces of
her friends and her parents. She started singing a little lullaby. Maria
had blue eyes, brown, curly, long hair, and a beautiful singing voice. She
had been in the chorus and sung solos many times.
Soon came the sound of Jeff's loud breathing, and she knew he
was asleep. As she stroked his hair she looked up. All of a sudden like
her little fake Christmas village getting plugged in, lights flickered on. It
was like Fireflies lighting up. It came to her like a strike of lightning; it
was the outer edge of the city! She wanted dearly to get a better look.
She strained her eyes staring through he blackness and gave up. She had
an impulse to wake Jeff, but decided against it. He was too tired, and
once he woke up he wouldn't be able to fall back asleep. She sat down
next to the snoring boy. She took off her shoes and socks and dug her
feet into the cool sand. It was a relief. Her feet were hot and blistered.
She could not imagine what the city would look like. Every person who
had ever gone through this city had only said one of two things. The first
one was "horrible at first, but great in the end," and the second one was
"great at first, but horrible in the end." As she fell asleep these sayings
echoed through her head.
Horrible at first, but great in the end,
great at first, but horrible in the end,
horrible at first, but great in the end,
great at first, but horrible in the end,
horrible at first, but great in the end,
horrible at first, but great in the end,
great at first, but horrible in the end,
horrible at first, but great in the end,
great at first, but horrible in the end,
horrible at first, but great in the end.
It finally died out, and she had an uneventful sleep. She awoke
several hours later but it was still dark. She looked down at her dark
purple wristwatch. It was three‐thirty in the morning. She couldn't wait
any longer. She shook Jeff awake.
"Jeff, Jeff, wake up!" her voice sounded like a sharp bell ringing
out, fresh and crisp. Jeff rolled over sleepily and opened up his eyes to
see Maria staring at him with her soft hazel colored eyes.
"Jeff, look over there," she commanded. Again, Jeff rolled over.
"Oh!" he murmured. Although they still couldn't see anything but
the lights, Jeff instantly new what it was. "The city!" he cried happily.
"Jeff this may sound silly to you, but I really want to go now. It's
because I don't want to see it from all the way over here; I want to see
the new city." Maria ended with a sigh.
"Maria, I know what you mean, I feel that way too," he admitted.
Maria got together all their stuff and they were off.
Chapter 2: At The Wall
A short while later they were there. Hearts pounding, they came
to a stop. They could now see plainly what lay before them. There was a
wall! They looked at it in bewilderment. Made out of bricks that were
weathered and chipped, the wall stood twenty feet high. The bricks
were a reddish‐brownish color, yet there seemed to be so many
varieties of the one color, it was almost overwhelming. The gray mortar
in between the bricks was broken into so many pieces, that to piece it
back together it would be harder than a one thousand‐piece puzzle. In
some places moss grew over the aged bricks so that it was completely
green. All the bricks were different sizes, differing from four inches to a
foot. The hundreds and hundreds of bricks they could see curved
around in the distance.
"Wow!" Jeff whispered, looking amazed, "This must be an old city!
I can't wait to go in." Jeff said louder. Suddenly an old gnarled hand
grabbed their shirts. The scratched knuckles dug into their necks. Jeff
could feel a cold object rubbing into his skin. It must be a ring thought
Jeff as they were lifted from the ground. The sound of a lever being
pushed down and doors creaking open floated into their ears. As they
looked forward the wall in front off them opened inward to reveal two
doors. They had had no idea the doors had been there, they had been so
well concealed. They could not see any thing inside them, though,
because it was pitch black. The gnarled hands threw Maria through one
of the doors and Jeff through the other.
Chapter 3: The New City
As soon as Jeff had his full body fully through the doorway, what
he saw astounded him. It was like pushing away a curtain in between
two totally different rooms in totally different parts of the world. He
was in a whole different world, the sun was high in the air and
everything just looked... different. He looked at the blinding yellow sun
as best he could. Now that he thought about it, it was a weird shape. It
looked, it looked like a yellow pepper? He blinked trying to get all the
glare out of his eyes. He squinted back up at the sun. It was a yellow
pepper, with no stem. He did all those pinching procedures to see if he
was dreaming. Nope. It was still there gleaming brightly as if it had been
polished. For the first time Jeff glanced around him. The grass looked
oddly like lemongrass. It was tall and a lot thicker then grass. Not to
mention the sickly, strong, lemon smell in the air. He was in a small field
with a few trees in it. Trees? No. Broccoli.
“What kind of place is this? I hate vegetables. He ran to where he
had been thrown in. There was no door at all. He pressed and he
pushed, but there was no exit. He stood back. Now he realized there was
a gigantic mural against the brick wall. There were tons of vegetables
painted in bright colors. There were every kind you could think off and
more. There was asparagus, cucumbers, cauliflower, spinach, turnips,
mushrooms, onions, leeks, peas, watercress, zucchini, eggplant, beets,
carrots, broccoli, peppers, brussel sprouts and much, much more. He
clasped his hand and read, “VEGETABLE LAND” in big black
letters centered in the middle of the mural. Right below it said in
smaller black letters, “HORRIBLE AT FIRST, BUT GREAT IN
THE END.” Lost in thought Jeff turned around and walked forward.
Chapter 3: The 2nd New City
“Whoa!” Maria exclaimed getting to her feet. “This is awesome!”
She ran over to a brown tree. It was a recess peanut butter tree. “I got
one of those for Christmas!” she cried happily. Far, far, up sat a
glistening lemon head surrounded by fluffy, white, intense cotton candy.
With a contented sigh and a grin she sat down to eat some green, grass
licorice that sprouted from the ground. Everywhere she plucked some
from the ground, instantly new ones started to grow. As she ate she
thought. Where was Jeff? What was he doing? I promised Mom I would
look after him; after all he is only seven. But as the licorice filled her up
she forgot her worries about Jeff. Where am I? What should I do? I can’t
eat candy forever, even though this is my dream.
"Where am I?" she said to herself, "is this some sort of candy
land?" Instantly her mind flew to the game Candyland Jeff always used
to play. She got up and turned around slowly in a circle. When she got to
the point where she was facing the opposite way she had been she saw
something. There was a gigantic wall as far as her eye could see. Across
it was a humongous mural. On it was a magnificent scene of a city ‐
made out of candy. "That must be where I am!" Maria cried, now she
was getting used to the idea of a candy city and rather liked it. All her
favorite kinds of candy were there. "Aw, too bad Jeff doesn't get to see
this," Maria whispered, then grinned. Looking up she raised her hand
over her eyes like a salute to protect her delicate eyes from the razor
sharp glare of the sun. Sprawled across the middle of the mural in curly
cursive writing was the name "CANDY LAND'," (CANDY LAND,) and
underneath in slightly smaller letters was the sentence, "GREAT AT
FIRST," (GREAT AT FIRST,) she nodded and continued reading,
"HORRIBLE IN THE END," (HORRIBLE IN THE END) Maria
frowned and turned around and walked away.

MOTHER'S DAY COOKIES
"Okay, I 'm ready to grind up the ginger," I whispered. I leaped toward
the refrigerator. Ginger, ginger, I scanned the shelf-lined door. Ah, there it
was, I grabbed it and strode back to the table. I looked around my kitchen for
a brief moment. I cut a reasonable-sized piece of ginger off the big chunk. One
thing you ought to know, it was Mother's day and I was making cookies for
my mom. All by myself, with a little help from Jackson my neighbor. (He was
only seven.) I was trying to make ginger snaps, my mom's favorite. I wasn't
using a recipe, even though I hadn't the slightest notion about how to make
them. Well, I used some things I knew about making other cookies, but that
was it. Right now the two eggs, the cup of sugar, and a stick of butter were
spinning around and around in the electric mixer like a helicopter. I stopped
it and brought the bowl to the table. I put the ginger in the coffee bean
grinder. I pushed the lever down.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" Jackson and I screamed as
quietly as we could. The ginger was flying everywhere. It was like a volcano
exploding. Chunks of ginger were bonking against the ceiling, the walls,
everything. I reached my hand in to the grinder to stop the blade spinning
and,
"Ouch," I cried, withdrawing my hand. My hand was bleeding so much
I couldn't see the cut. It was like a hose spurting out water and drenching
everyone near it. "Jackson get a tissue from the bathroom!" I said gripping my
wrist. Jackson was taking so long, you 'd thing the bathroom was around the
block, even though it was only five feet away. "Arg!" I growled like a hungry
tiger and stuck my finger into the batter. The red color started to spread
across the batter like pee creeping down a little kid's pants. The batter was
cool and it felt so good on this warm afternoon I closed my eyes.
"Lydia! What the heck are you doing? Jackson said disgusted. I shook
my head.
"Oh, Jackson," I replied nervously my eyes darting. I took my hand out
with a loud pop, much like when you release a fish face. I picked up the
wooden spoon and stirred, hopping the yellowish batter would swallow up the
red blood. It did not. The batter became orange. The blood had made the
mixture watery so I added more flour. Too dry, butter, too wet, flour and
sugar, butter, flour/sugar, butter, flour/sugar, butter, flour/sugar, butter,
flour/sugar, butter, until I had used two sticks of butter, four cups of sugar,
and five cups of flour. The only ingredients I had put in were eggs, butter,
sugar, flour, and some ginger I found on the table as a remainder of the
explosion. Hold on... and blood. Now I clumped the batter into little balls
and put them on a cookie sheet and shoved them into the oven. Five minutes
later there was a loud bang, the oven door opened and out flooded an orange
liquid.
Here are a few nice little samples of my writing, and I will be adding more on other posts, don't you worry!
Everywhere she plucked some

thought. Where was Jeff? What was he doing? I promised Mom I would

I am so glad! I go to Sunday school on Sundays from 9:30 to 11:30 except we have to leave at like 9:00 and we don't get home until 12:00. What a waste of a nice morning. Today, though I don't have to go!! The school we rent for Sunday school has something going on in it, so we can't use it. The first, second, and third graders are going to the temple for Sunday school, but the temple is not large enough for all the grades, so it is just them.
By the way my sister is in third grade (insert evil laughter here.)
